About Awa Fijolek

I was born and grew up in Poland, I’m based in Paris, I lived in Israel, Russia and Germany.

My photography interest is focused mainly on men, male bodies, male fashion, because the visual representation of masculinity in the history of art and history of photography still remains undeveloped. I believe that images and fashion can be a way to send a very strong message to the society. My biggest photography inspiration and master is Robert Mapplethorpe.

I think in images and I consider a photography as a language. I love languages. I speak fluently in Polish, English and Russian, I know some German and I’m happy to learn French and Hebrew.

I’ve been playing violin since I remember, I’m vegan and feminist.
